The China General Chamber of Commerce-USA (CGCC) will team up with overseas Chinese communities in the United States in staging a donation gala on Saturday to raise money for the China Pavilion.
The gala in New York will mark the 100-day countdown celebration to the Expo, and it will gather about 400 guests, mostly overseas Chinese. The donation will be transferred to the organizer in support of the construction and decoration of the China Pavilion.
All donors at the gala will be granted certificates and individuals or corporations whose donation reaches one million yuan (US$146,628) will have their names carved on the wall of the China Pavilion.
Huang Xueqi, secretary general of CGCC, told a press conference on Friday that the fair is caused a buzz in Chinese communities across the globe.
The Chinese government finances most of the construction of the national pavilion, and at the same time, the organizer receives donations from Chinese people.
