Macedonia is to showcase its culture and economic development at the upcoming 2010 Shanghai Expo, news reaching here from Skopje said on Monday.

Macedonia is going to take part in the event held in Shanghai from May 1 to October 31 under the slogan of "Macedonia Timeless", MIA, Macedonia's official news agency, said.

"Our objective is to promote the country in a dignified and modest way," said Macedonia's Deputy Economy Minister Metodij Hadzi Vaskov, who is also the country's national coordinator for the Expo.

Presentations in Macedonia's pavilion will focus on Macedonia's traditional food and crafts, rural development and modern economy, natural resources and cultural diversities.

Macedonia will stage its national day for the event on Sept. 8.

Macedonia's Parliament Speaker Trajko Veljanoski, who is on a visit to China, is scheduled to open the Macedonian pavilion.
