The Shanghai World Expo is the first Expo in 19 years that Russia has built its own pavilion. The pavilion's design reflects traditional Russian architecture with Chinese influences.
Russia's pavilion features twelve 20-meter-high towers in the style of ancient Ural towns. The irregular shape of the towers is inspired by the traditional Russian women's costume. The tops of the towers look unfinished. This is because according to Chinese philosophy an ideal city should always be changing and developing.
Inside, the pavilion's theme is "The City of Talents", It's design is heavily inspired by the thoughts of famous children's book author Nikolai Nosov, who once said that "The best city is the one where the children are happy."
Most pavilions haven't changed since the expo opened earlier this year. But, to celebrate its national pavilion day, Russia built two extra areas to display its science and technology developments including new energy and nuclear power.
Whether its to create an ideal city in Children's eyes, or to present Russia's achievements in science and technology, the country has certainly taken a unique approach to the World's Expo theme of "Better city, better life."
