Chinese President Hu Jintao Monday called for the boosting of cooperation with Belarus on high technology projects and the maintenance of steady growth in bilateral trade.
Hu made the remarks when meeting with visiting Belorussian President Alexander Lukashenko, who is in China to attend the Belorussian National Pavilion Day at the Shanghai Expo.
Hu spoke positively of the progress of China-Belarus relations, calling the two countries good friends and partners.
Hu also said it is the consistent policy of the Chinese government to consolidate ties and enhance cooperation with Belarus.
Lukashenko hailed the achievements of bilateral ties over the years, citing expanded cooperation in various areas and rapid trade growth.
Expressing satisfaction over the growth of ties, Lukashenko said Belarus will firmly stick to the policy of developing cooperative ties with China.
Hu expressed hope the two sides will support each other on major issues of respective concern and enhance coordination on global issues, to lay a solid foundation for further growth in bilateral relations.
Lukashenko also said his nation welcomes Chinese enterprises' investments in his country.
