China has made progress in a nationwide campaign against inappropriate cyber games. The Ministry of Culture said it has shut down the operation of more than 100 cyber games which contained pornography, violence and gambling.
Senior officials with the ministry said its monitoring system has connected with other monitoring agencies in 22 provinces and regions throughout the country. The system is able to conduct real time monitoring of over 80 thousands Internet cafes across the country.
While supervising existing online games, the ministry will also enhance the management of Internet cafes to prevent teenagers from entering. It also urged online game designers to install anti-addiction systems in their products.
