Friday's attack on Togo's national soccer team is the latest incident of terrorism in sport.
At the 1972 Munich Olympics, gunmen raided the Israeli team's quarters in the athletes' village. Eleven members of the Israeli team were killed before the gunmen were shot dead by police.
In May 2006, 15 athletes and officials from an Iraqi taekwondo squad were kidnapped west of Baghdad. The bodies of at least 13 of them were found in 2007.
Last March, gunmen attacked a bus carrying the Sri Lankan cricket team outside a stadium in the northwestern Pakistani city of Lahore. The gunmen killed six policemen and a driver.
