A brave female Chinese peacekeeper helped save 5 people after the deadly earthquake struck Haiti on Tuesday. She says it's simply part of her job.
This is Wang Xueyan, from China's 7th peacekeeping troop. She has been in Haiti for four months.
When the earthquake hit, she was driving with a Canadian policeman named Martin in downtown Port-au-Prince.
Wang Xueyan, Peacekeeper, said, "We were driving and had to stop because of a traffic jam. Suddenly, the car started shaking. A young Haitian man ran toward us saying a building collapsed, burying many people in it."
The two rushed to the scene immediately. They climbed on top of the rubble and using a car jack raised a portion of the debris. They saved five people with their bare hands.
One of the survivors is now a guide for the UN peacekeeping troops. Wang Xueyan says as a peacekeeper it's her mission to save and help others.
