Chinese doctors assist Haiti victims

The Chinese rescue team in Port-au-Prince has set up a mobile hospital near Haiti's presidential building. More than five hundred quake victims have been treated by the medical team in their first morning at the makeshift treatment camp.
Cleaning the wounds, dressing them and taking notes. Doctors repeat the process over many hours. Victims from nearby accumulation points began queuing outside the camp 10 minutes after the tent was set up. As the queue grew longer, patients in serious conditions were sent directly to the emergency room.
Hou Shike, Chief doctor of Chinese Rescue Team, said, "The patient is suffering from breast trauma. And one side of her lung is serious infected. She had passed out on her arrival."
After 20 minutes' emergency treatment, the condition of the patient was stable.
"I feel better now."
Over 80 percent of the patients are suffering from trauma, bone fractures, and wound infections. Though they are working a humble room, the tented hospital has all-round functions.
Cao Li, Doctor of Chinese Rescue Team, said, "We have doctors in surgery, medicine, gynecology, neuro-surgery. It can basically meet the medical needs following the earthquake."
