Martial arts action hero Jackie Chan is in a new movie, "The Spy Next Door", now playing in theatres in the US, Canada and Singapore. At a press conference for the movie in Beijing earlier of the week, he announced the film will be released across China on February 14th, which is the first day of China's lunar new year and, in western countries, Valentine's Day.
Amber Valetta, George Lopez and Billy Ray Cyrus co-star with Chan in "The Spy Next Door," in which action sequences take a back seat to slapstick family comedy.
"The Spy Next Door" is Chan's 100th film. In the previous three decades, he's become famous across the globe as a kung-fu action star. He's currently planning a new production of that genre called "Twelve Zodiacs", inspired by the auction of cultural relics of Yuanmingyuan Garden's animal heads. Chan says the story will definitely touch all the Chinese audiences.
Jackie Chan said, ""Twelve Zodiacs" is possibly my last action movie, and I'm dedicated to it."
Chan conceived "The Spy Next Door" twenty years ago, and assigned young director Ding Sheng to take the helm of the production.
