"Beijing Culture Week" is underway in Brussels, Belgium. Displaying the historic capital's ancient and modern charm, the event will bring the four-month Europalia China 2009 to an end on a high note.
Eighty pictures are being shown to present a full picture of Beijing, its folk culture, history, and the modern city. As the opening program of "Beijing Culture Week", the exhibition will be followed by a number of cultural events.
Claire Kirschen, Belgium General Commissioner, said, "EU's headquarters is in Brussels which is also the capital of Belgium, while Beijing is the great capital of China. Beijing and Brussels are also friendship cities for many years. That's why "Beijing Culture Week" ends the festival as part of interactive communication between the two cities."
On its 40th anniversary, Europalia invited China as the guest country. Lasting from last October to February 14th, some 50 exhibitions and 450 events are organized around four themes: immortal China, contemporary China, Colorful China and China and the world.
