Currently, an on-line farming game is quite popular across China, but residents in Xi'an that have brought it into reality have been enjoying it quite a lot.
Mr Li is a local resident of Xi'an. Every weekend, he drives the whole family to a vegetable field to farm. The annual rent for his 50-square-meter field is about 1,500 yuan.
Mr Li said, "By farming, we can have healthy vegetables and give the children a lesson."
Currently, 35 residents have joined the farming group. Mao Haitao, a college-graduate village official, is the first person to bring the cyber game into reality.
Mao said, "Last year, when I was watching over the summer harvest, a villager complained to me that farming was really hard in June and he wondered what it would be like if urban people come down to farm. That inspired me to try the idea."
Mao's idea was supported by the village committee and proved to be quite lucrative for farmers.
A villager said, "The idea produces 20 thousand yuan per year for a family. We can take in at most 60 thousand yuan every year. That is quite an increase."
This farming idea creates a win-win situation as city residents can enjoy country life while farmers can earn more.
