Chinese track superstar Liu Xiang is getting ready for another run. The hurdler is gearing up for Doha's 2010 World Indoor Championship.
Liu Xiang just wrapped up his two-month winter training in Shanghai. It is Liu's first long training sessions since recovering from surgery last year.
The Chinese champion is getting stronger, but his coach says the hurdler still needs to work on speed and endurance.
Sun Haiping, Liu Xiang's Coach, said, "He foot is all right now, but he's still vulnerable to other injuries. That's also his biggest problem right now."
Liu Xiang ran in a team 60 meter race last week, but only finished fourth. It was Liu's worst ever result in his career. But he is not upset about what happened.
Liu Xiang, 110m Hurdler, said, "I'm Ok now. I didn't think last week's event was a real competition. I only treated it like normal training. So the result is fine, since it's a training session to me."
The Doha Championships will be the first international indoor event for Liu since his ill-fated showing at the Beijing Olympics. Liu's overall medal record at the world indoors includes one gold, one silver and one bronze.
