Chinese lawyers filed a complaint on behalf of more than 170 consumers against PC giant Hewlett Packard. They are requesting the government order a recall of allegedly faulty notebook computers.
The move is the first time the world's largest PC brand has faced organized action from overseas consumers. The complaint was delivered to the General Administration for Quality and Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. It requests the watchdog investigate the quality of HP notebooks and order the company to buy back or exchange allegedly faulty machines and to compensate consumers for their losses. It also calls for the regulator to request a recall of the notebooks.
