Toyota has started talks with authorities of east China's Zhejiang Province on the recalls and compensation involving defective RAV-4 models. The delegation is led by the general manager of the FAW Toyota Motor Sales, a Sino-Japanese joint venture. It's held closed-door talks with the Zhejiang Provincial Administration for Industry and Commerce.
The administration has demanded Toyota step up the recall of RAV-4s and compensate the Chinese customers. Owners have complained Toyota has been slow in doing repairs. And the company has not met the demands for compensation or canceling contracts. The provincial authority said it will fully support customers to safeguard their interests. Toyota will recall about 75,000 RAV-4s in China. Nearly 10 percent are in Zhejiang.
