A cold front has hit northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region with authorities issuing a blue-level warning for rainstorms, heavy winds and frost.
Regional capital city Urumqi experienced sleet on Saturday. It only lasted ten minutes, but it was intense enough to cause trouble on the roads and disrupt construction.
Other parts of Xinjiang also experienced some weird weather. Akesu region's lowest temperature dropped to 4 degrees Celsius with sandstorms sweeping some parts of the region. Also in Bazhou, the temperature dropped by 15 degrees from 18 on Friday to 3 on Saturday. The cold front has also brought snow to Bohu county affecting over seven thousand hectares of crop.
