Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou says he hopes the weekly flights between Taiwan and the Chinese Mainland can increase to 500 from the newly-planned 370.
Ma says at least 200 more flights are needed to meet cross-Strait trade demand. His assessment comes just weeks after the regular flights between Taiwan and the mainland were increased by a hundred to 370.
On June 14th, Taipei's Songshan Airport will kick start its route with the Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. Ma wants to shape Songshan into a commercial hub for the Asia-Pacific region.
