The opening and closing films of this year's Shanghai International Film Festival will feature Jet Li in a dramatic role as a father, and the latest Hollywood comedy of the summer, "Killers," will be the grand finale.
"Ocean Paradise" is by director Xue Xiaolu and stars Jet Li, Wen Zhang, and Taiwan actress Guey Lun-Mei. Jet Li casts aside the role of kung fu action hero to play an ordinary man. It is Li's first attempt in 25 years to tackle a new type of role.
Wen Zhang plays a boy who suffers from autism. Li is his father, who is a cancer patient himself. The movie portrays the father's last contribution and relentless love to his son.
"Killers" is a new comedy action film starring Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher. They're a couple on a very adventurous first date. After hooking up during a vacation in Europe, they later married and settled in suburbia. That's when Heigl's character discovers that her perfect husband is indeed too good to be true, as it turns out he's really an international assassin.
"Killers" will be screened on the awards ceremony on June 20th.
