President Hu Jintao is calling for more innovation and increased use of clean energy during a recent tour of Shenzhen in south China. He was there to attend the celebratory rally marking the 30th anniversary of the country's first special economic zone.
A major focus of the President's two-day tour is Shenzhen's efforts in accelerating the transformation of the economic growth pattern.
At Tencent Incorporated, one of China's largest Internet portals, Hu Jintao discovered the company's 12 thousand staff are very young, with an average age of 27 years. 85 percent of them also have college degrees.
Hu Jintao encouraged young people to be innovative and contribute to the nation's Internet industry.
Another focus of the president's inspection is the development of clean energy. At Daya Bay Nuclear Power Base, the cradle of China's nuclear power industry, the president gained first-hand knowledge of the construction of two nuclear power plants.
