Thousands of people have braved wind and rain to watch the Asia debut of the "Flugtag" air show in Hong Kong.
More than 40 teams from around the world took part in Sunday's event at Victoria Harbor. Participants flew their own homemade aircraft across the harbor, before plunging into the water from a six meter-high platform. Strong winds on the day prevented many of the flying machines from making it to the end of the runway in one piece.
Most competitors dressed up for the occasion in outlandish costumes. Flugtag has been held in 35 cities around the world since it was started by Red Bull in 1971.
