We begin in Chile where the operation to rescue 33 miners trapped almost a kilometer underground is about to begin.
2 people from the top will descend one at a time 1rescue expert and 1 doctor. They'll be the first to go down the 600-meter rescue shaft to inspect the situation underground and the miners' health. Officials have drawn up a list of which miners should come out first. The first miner is expected to come out at 9pm local time.
The miners will travel from their underground bunker to the surface in a narrow steel rescue capsule that has a diameter of about 55 centimeters. The whole operation is expected to last about two days.
The miners will have their eyes closed during their journey to the surface. They'll be given dark glasses to avoid damaging their eyesight after spending so long underground in the dark.
As each miner is brought to the surface, they will be given an initial medical check before being reunited with their family. They will then be taken to a nearby hospital to receive further treatment.
