Cold fronts are expected to sweep into northern China over the next week, bringing average temperatures down by 4 to 8 degrees Celsius. This could mean an early winter for the region.
The cold fronts are likely to dump snow on Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning provinces. Temperature could drop by as much as 12 degrees in some parts of the region. In other northern areas, cold fronts blowing in from the west are expected to result in rainfall.
Meanwhile, torrential downpours continue to pound the southern island province of Hainan. Local authorities have taken measures to control flooding and protect reservoirs. The storms are expected to last a few more days.
