Students from around the country are at the China Education Expo in Beijing looking at options for studying overseas. How to choose a good college offering high quality education is a common concern of students and their parents. Well the experts have some advice.
Over 500 schools, colleges and universities are participating in the Education Expo. With so much choice, some students say it's hard to make a decision. Experts suggest that students should know exactly what they want first, then begin consultations with a suitable college.
Cheng Xing, Assoc. Vice President of City University of Hong Kong, said, "It's not enough to come and see the names of universities. Students should know the strong aspects of the university that he'd like to choose, to see if it is suitable for him."
The Education Expo is a platform bringing together students and representatives from overseas universities. It provides an opportunity to know each other better, and make careful choices.
It's not only Chinese students who go abroad to study, a large number of overseas students also come to China each year. In 2009, the number of oversea students in China reached 240-thousand.
Zhang Xiuqin, Director of Department of Int'l Cooperation and Exchanges of MOE, said, "Besides Chinese language, oversea students like to choose Chinese history and traditional Chinese medicine. Also, laws, economics, management and engineering have become popular among the oversea students."
This is the 10th year for the China Education Expo. It will also be held in Dalian, Xi'an, Shanghai, Chengdu and Kunming in the coming weeks.
