There's good news for college students who have one last year before graduating. Companies are already starting a hiring frenzy. A record of more than 6.6 million students will graduate next year and campus recruitment season has arrived.
In Xi'an Jiaotong University, located in northwest China, the job fairs' peak recruitment season is underway. The fair starts at 8 am, and closes at 9 pm. It's a long day. It 's been this busy, since early October.
Shang Chunyang, Director of Student Career Center, Xi'an Jiaotong University said "The stalls for recruiters are fully booked till December. Nearly 1,000 companies are being represented at our university."
The same thing is happening in other universities around China. This year, campus recruitment is earlier than ever.
Zhao Gangmin, Director of Student Career Center, Jilin University said "The job fairs started very early. On September 5th, over 100 companies attended the job fair in our college, and thousands of job vacancies were available."
Companies say they started recruiting earlier this year to attract a higher quality of students, but some feel they still started too late and may have missed out on some good candidates.
Chen Yonglin, HR manager in Xiamen, Fujian Province said "We started around half a month earlier compared with last year. But I still think our pace is too slow."
During the financial crisis, many companies re-structured themselves. According to analysts, the recovering economy is a main driver for the earlier peak in the recruitment season this year. Companies are now, much more ready to invest in a larger workforce to deal with increased workloads.
