China's antique calligraphy and painting is maintaining its momentum in the autumn auction market. When Beijing-based Rongbao auction house offered a preview of its autumn sale on Wednesday, 800 pieces of calligraphy and painting were the undeniable focus of attention.

At this coming auction, works by Xu Beihong, Qi Baishi, Zhang Daqian and Fu Baoshi are up for sale. Their cultural and artistic values are unparalleled in China′s art history.

"Women of Hui'an", painted by Huang Zhou in 1984, is a meticulous depiction of the laboring scene of women in Hui'an county of Fujian Province.

There has been a continual fever over China′s calligraphy and traditional paintings.

At this year's spring auction, a piece of calligraphy done by Huang Tingjian nine hundred years ago fetched 430 million yuan, the highest price ever achieved for a work of Chinese calligraphy.

Art Collector, said, "Chinese masters have given life to their works using the brush. They channeled their emotion and life experience into a highly refined form of art. That is why calligraphy and paintings are best received by collectors right now."

Pundits are seeing good chances for the sale record to be broken at the autumn sale.
