China and EU are holding their third High-level Economic and Trade Dialogue in Beijing. Vice Premier Wang Qishan and three senior officials of the European Commission are co-chairing. It's the first such meeting since the Lisbon Treaty came into force.
Wang Qishan says China welcomes efforts by European officials to stabilize global markets in the wake of Europe's debt crisis. He also says China wants to speed up the Doha round of talks, and China opposes all types of trade protectionism. The vice premier called for joint efforts to push forward the agreements reached at G20 summits as a way to improve global governance.
