"Bend it like Beckham" has become the first western movie screened on DPRK television. The 2002 British comedy drama was shown recently to mark the 10th anniversary of diplomatic ties between London and Pyongyang.
The film follows the travails of a teenage girl with a rebellious streak growing up in an orthodox Hindu community in London.
Though featuring football, the film also depicts some taboo topics such as homosexuality and inter-racial relationships.
The aired version of the film has been cut from 112 minutes to 100.
