All highways in southwest China's Guizhou Province re-opened as of Monday afternoon, after the weekend's deep freeze led to icy conditions.
Many roads were closed for over 30 hours, stranding nearly 7,000 drivers in the cold. Traffic began to slowly return to normal Monday morning. By 6 p.m., all stranded vehicles had made their way into the provincial capital, Guizhou.
On Saturday, heavy rainfall fell in the province, which then quickly turned to thick ice in the freezing weather, forcing many highways to be shut down.
