With Chinese New Year fast approaching, many holiday makers are getting ready to travel. Tourism businesses in Taiwan are expecting an influx of visitors from the Chinese mainland. But some analysts say the number may fall, compared with last year.
In 2010, 1500 tour groups, or around 40 thousand mainland visitors spent their Spring Festival in Taiwan. But this year, group tour fees have gone up by 5,000 to 8,000 New Taiwan Dollars. That's due to the increasing cost of air tickets and accommodation. Taiwan tour operators say only 20 percent of mainland bookings for Spring Festival have been confirmed, which is far less than last year's 50 percent.
