The Deputy Governor of China's central bank says he fully supports the euro. He made the remarks during his recent visit to the UK, as China pledges to buy bonds from indebted European states like Spain and Greece.
Yi Gang, Deputy Governor of People's Bank of China said "China does indeed support the series of stabilization measures adopted by the EU, the ECB, and the IMF, and we support a diversified international currency system. We do think the euro is a very important pillar of that system, that is why we have full confidence in the currency. At the same time China is still a developing country, and we will do our best to be a stabilizer in this process, so we support the euro and we support further integration of the EU."
