China's Peng Shuai met former world number one and 7th seed Jelena Jankovic in the second round on the women's draw.

Peng struggled with injury last year and opens this season ranked 54th in the world. She entered the court with confidence. But Jankovic has more experience. She was a semi-finalist at Australia 2008, and took an early lead.

The Serbian built a 2-love first set margin with an ace.

But Peng caught up. She clawed her way back to 5-4 after Jankovic sent a shot out of play. The Chinese challenger forced the first set into a tiebreak.

and she carried out in the second set, into the third round with a huge smile on her face.
