Companies that fail to abide by to food safety regulations will be severely dealt with, according to the sector's watchdog.
During a plenary meeting of the Food Safety Commission, Vice Premier Hui Liangyu said more supervision was required in the industry, and urged for a food safety guarantee system to be set up sooner rather than later. Both measures are included on the food regulator's list of improvements for the year. Monitoring food production and improving China's emergency response system to food incidents are also top priorities.
