The giant Tsunami wave that devastated the northeast coast of Japan wiped out the region's coastal fishing industry, and cut the country's total seafood production by a quarter.
Boats have been washed away and the fish market has been destroyed.
These fishermen have nothing to do but wait for compensation, which will help them start fishing again.
Fisherman, Ishinomaki, said, "I work in the seafood industry. Our company was destroyed by the tsunami, leaving nothing but myself."
The village is thought to have lost about 300 million yen, in the economic devastation wrought by the earthquake and tsunami.
Around 260 fishing ports were completely destroyed, and over 13 thousand fishing boats lost in Iwate, Ishinomaki and Miyagi prefectures.
Fishing equipment lies rotting all across Ishinomaki.
And life is hard for the fishermen.
Fisherman, Ishinomaki, said, "I am living on my pension, which is little. Life is very difficult for me. "
Radiation levels in Miyagi are around POINT ZERO FIVE micro-sievert, half that of Tokyo. But these fishermen aren't so concerned about the radiation in the sea. They just want to get back to work.
