Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping says China and Cuba should make a concerted effort to promote closer ties and enhance cooperation between the two nations. The visiting Vice President made the remarks during talks with Cuban leader Raul Castro in Havana on Sunday.
Xi Jinping said both sides should maintain high-level exchanges and deepen mutual political trust. The two countries should also deepen practical and win-win cooperation. Xi Jinping also stressed the importance of people-to-people exchanges.
Castro briefed Xi Jinping on the sixth National Congress of the Cuban Communist Party, as well as the social-economic development of the island nation. He says Cuba is willing to increase exchanges with China in governance and party-building. After the meeting, both countries signed accords to continue bilateral cooperation.
