One month after the deadly train crash in which 40 people were killed and hundreds more were injured, a spokesman for the investigation bureau reveals the causes of the crash during an interview with CCTV.
Huang Yi, spokesman for the investigation bureau, said, "According to the investigation so far, the train crash on July 23rd was caused by flaws in the system which led to equipment bugs. Meanwhile, the accident has revealed big problems in emergency and safety management. The accident was a serious and avoidable liability accident."
Meanwhile a large scale verification of China's high speed rail network is underway to prevent such incidents from happening again. The company responsible for manufacturing the trains has recalled 54 of them. The company claims however that their trains have no flaws. And starting this September, the speed of China's bullet trains will be reduced.
