Two navy ships from Pakistan have arrived in Shanghai on a goodwill mission.
On a mission to create goodwill and understanding. Two Pakistani Navy ships, a destroyer and an oil tanker, arrived in Shanghai’s harbor on Monday.
Senior officials and diplomats from both sides joined in the welcome ceremony.
The pair of ships embarked on their voyage from Karachi in late October, making stops at ports in Sri Lanka and Thailand before lowering its anchor in Shanghai.
The Pakistani destroyer, PNS Khaibar, is making its first visit to Shanghai since it was commissioned into the Navy in 1994. During its 19 years of service, the ship has been upgraded several times, including being outfitted with a Chinese surface-to-air missile system.
The ship will later on be open to the general public, giving them an opportunity to visit the ships and gain knowledge about their working and functioning. Both of the ships will remain docked in Shanghai for four days. A number of bilateral meetings and other activities are scheduled.
