Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng has expressed strong criticism of the US Pentagon's latest report China’s military. Geng Yansheng said the 96-page report continued to play up the so-called "Chinese military threat" and what it calls a "non-transparent military strength".
He said China is strongly dissatisfied with the improper comments by the US about China’s military strategy and military modernization, and groundless accusations on issues related to Taiwan, aerospace exploration, cyber security, and the Air Defense Identification Zone in the East China Sea.
The spokesman said the US accused China of being more assertive on issues of territorial sovereignty and maritime interests, and of creating more worries for the countries in the region. He said the US continues to give wrong signals on territorial disputes, which can only increase regional tensions and damage mutual trust and military relations. Geng Yansheng urged the US to take concrete action to improve military relations.
