The first meeting of the IOC Coordination Commission for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics was held on Monday. The commission, headed by Alexander Zhukov, will hold talks with the Beijing Organizing Committee and visit venues in Zhangjiakou, Yanqing and Beijing during the three-day meeting.

Zhukov, who previously headed the IOC's evaluation commission assessing the bids for the 2022 Games, chairs the 16-member coordination commission that will monitor Beijing's preparations. Zhukov spoke highly of China's effective preparation for the 2022 Olympics, saying their visit confirmed that Beijing is capable of hosting a successful Winter Games.
Organizing Committee president Guo Jinlong welcomed the IOC coordination commission, and stressed that China will be in strictly comply with the IOC rules to present a fantastic, extraordinary and excellent Winter Olympics six years from now.
