Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit Wednesday called on the international Quartet to work on controlling the clashes between the Israeli force and the Palestinian Muslims in Jerusalem, Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, Abul Gheit pointed out in a message to the Quartet the danger of the Israeli actions that let some extremists to break into the yard of al-Haram al-Sharif in East Jerusalem.
Abul Gheit told the Quartet that the city of Jerusalem has a sensitive nature especially the holy places, warning against any provocative actions in the area.
On Sunday, clashes erupted between Palestinian Muslim prayers and Israeli police forces as the latter accompanied a group of Jewish worshippers who tried to break into the yard of al-Haram al- Sharif, where the Muslims first shrine al-Aqsa mosque is, resulting in injuries of dozens of Palestinians and Israeli police.
