Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao urged the international community to pay more attention to the Millennium Development Goal (MDG), especially amid the ongoing international financial crisis.
He made the remarks at a press conference here Sunday afternoon after the opening ceremony of the fourth ministerial meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
He said that China, like many African countries, was also affected by the financial crisis, yet China will not reduce its aid to Africa. As announced in his speech at the opening ceremony of the ministerial meeting, China will implement eight major cooperation measures in the next three years to help Africa develop better, he said.
The premier urged the international community to keep its commitment to fulfilling the MDG despite the global financial crisis. He said that the international community should give higher priority to the fulfillment of these goals.
Once the goal is set, people should stick to it and try to fulfill it, he said.
