Russia-China relations are developing smoothly and are poised to enhance in the future, said Sergei Mironov, speaker of the Federation Council, Russia's upper house of parliament, on Thursday.
Mironov, at a meeting with representatives from media, told Xinhua Russia and China have maintained frequent high-level exchanges in recent years.
Both sides have established exchange platforms at various levels, including the Baikal economic forum held in Russia once every two years, he noted.
The lawmaker said the Federation Council has kept in close contact with China's National People's Congress, and parliamentary exchanges have become an integral part of the Russia-China strategic partnership of cooperation.
"It's the parliament that ensures the legislation foundation for further development of bilateral ties," he said.
Mironov pledged to try his best to make the relationship between the two parliaments in line with the level of the Russia-China strategic partnership of cooperation and bilateral friendship.
