China on Tuesday vowed to promote traditional relations with Vietnam at the 60th anniversary of bilateral ties.
"China attaches great importance to developing an all-round strategic and cooperative partnership with Vietnam, and would advance bilateral exchanges and cooperations," said Ma Zhaoxu, Foreign Ministry spokesman, at a regular press conference.
China and Vietnam forged diplomatic ties in 1950. Ma said the two countries had made historic achievements in promoting their relationship.
With the guideline of "long-term stability, future-orientation, good-neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation," China and Vietnam forged a strategic and cooperative partnership in 2008, pushing the relations to a new era, he said.
"The China-Vietnam relationship is in the fundamental interests and common aspirations of the two countries, and conducive to regional peace, stability and development," Ma said.
