Unknown motorcyclists opened fire and killed the son of a tribal elder and his driver in Taliban birthplace Kandahar province, south of Afghanistan on Tuesday, provincial police chief Sardar Mohammad Zazai said.
"Two unknown gunmen riding a motorbike opened fire on the car of Hajji Mohammad killing him and his driver in Kandahar city this morning," Zazai told Xinhua.
The official also said that a friend of Mohammad was injured in the gunshots.
The deceased Mohammad, according to locals is the son of a powerful tribal elder Karim Shah Khan that can spark more violence in the troubled Kandahar province.
No groups or individuals have claimed responsibility for the incident. Meantime, provincial police chief Zazai said that investigation is underway to identify and punish those behind the crime.
