The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) would not abandon its nuclear deterrent for "economic reward", the official news agency KCNA said on Friday.
The KCNA said in a commentary that accessing to nuclear deterrent was a measure of the DPRK for self-defense against the U.S. nuclear threat. This aimed neither to threaten others nor to get any "economic benefit" or reward.
The commentary said it's the "brigandish logic" for the U.S., the arch rival of the DPRK, to pose a nuclear threat to the DPRK while demanding it dismantle its nuclear weapons.
It's the consistent independent stand and principle of the DPRK not to dismantle its nuclear weapons unless the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK is rolled back and the nuclear threat removed, the article said.
