Pakistani officials said Thursday that another Afghan Taliban leader had been arrested.
Agha Jan Mohtasim was arrested in the southern port city of Karachi, they said on condition of anonymity. No further details were given.
According to earlier reports by the private TV ARY News, Mohtasim, who is a son-in-law of Mullah Muhammad Omar, the prominent Afghan war lord, was captured Thursday as intelligence agencies, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid on a house at Ehsan Abad area of the city.
Mohtasim is the former chief administrator of the Taliban regime in the late 1990s. He is also believed to be the Taliban's political and military strategist.
Two accomplices of Mohtasim were also arrested in the raid, the channel reported.
