At least two suspected militants and two Indian security forces personnel were killed in a gunfight in the northern Indian state of Punjab's Gurudaspur district, a senior police official said Sunday.
"The two militants were killed during a gun battle yesterday, after the security forces launched a massive operation to track down the duo who were spotted by locals near a village in the district. The two slain militants appear to be from across the border but we are still investigating to come to a final conclusion," he said, adding that two policemen also lost their lives in the encounter.
The objective of the slain militants are yet to be ascertained, the official said, adding that the police are looking for any of their accomplice.
