An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale hit Chile's Tarapaca region Thursday, the Earthquake Service Center of Chile University said.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or property damage.
The quake took place at around 18:04 local time (1404 GMT) with the epicenter located in the north of Tamarugal province, at a depth of 119.7 km.
