An earthquake of 6.7 magnitude on the Richter scale hits off the coast of U.S. state Alaska Saturday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported on Sunday.
According to the USGS, the quake occurred at about 9:56 p.m. local time (0556 GMT) at a depth of 35 km, in the regions of Aleutian Islands, and was located 45 km west of Nikolski, Alaska.
"A damaging tsunami is not expected along the California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alaska coasts," the U.S. West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center said in a statement.
