The death toll caused by wildfires raging in central Russia has risen to 50, Health Minister Tatyana Golikova said Thursday.

An ongoing heat wave has been scorching Russia since mid-June, triggering numerous peat bog and wildfires in its central part.
President Dmitry Medvedev declared a state of emergency in 13 regions as some 2,000 people had been left homeless.
The Emergency Ministry said that a total of 4,058 wildfires and 1,057 peat bog fires have been registered in central Russia so far.
