The total number of Bangladesh's mobile phone subscribers reached 61.845 million at the end of July 2010 with 9.415 million new users in the first seven months of this year, official data showed Sunday.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) data showed the country's six mobile phone operators sold new connections of 1.865 million in July, 1.62 million in June, 2 million in May, 1.66 million in April, 380,000 in March, 490,000 in February and 1.4 million in January this year.
The BTRC data showed the number of subscribers of the six mobile phone operators -- Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi, Citycell, Teletalk and Warid -- at the end of July this year stood at 27.276 million, 16.804 million, 11.326 million, 1.996 million, 1.147 million and 3.296 million respectively.
In 2009, these companies added 7.79 million new subscribers against the addition of 10.27 million users in 2008.
