China on Tuesday called on Iran to fully cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to assure the international community that the country's nuclear program was peaceful in nature.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu made the comments in response to a question concerning a new IAEA report which had proven Iran's nuclear facilities were for peaceful purposes.
"China has taken notice of the IAEA report," said Jiang. "We hope parties concerned would increase efforts and resume related dialogues and negotiations as soon as possible, to seek a comprehensive, long-term and appropriate solution to the issue," she said.
The IAEA report lists latest developments of Iran's nuclear program since the last report produced in May.
The report says Iran had been continuing its uranium enrichment activities despite UN sanctions, and calls for Iran to cooperate more with the IAEA to clarify the intent of its nuclear program, including providing access to all sites, equipment, persons and documents requested by the agency.
